Despite the links, Sheringham believes Rashford has not done enough to justify such a move.
“If you assess where Marcus Rashford is as a professional footballer, you strive as a youngster to reach the top and play for clubs like Manchester United.
“ When you get there, you should appreciate it,” Sheringham said.
He added, “You don’t just throw it away and say you want to leave. I find the whole episode soul-destroying. Back in my day, players dreamed of this kind of opportunity.
“To hear Rashford talking like this reminds me of when Aubameyang forced his way out of Arsenal, and I didn’t like that either.”
Sheringham went even further, stating, “From my perspective, going from Manchester United to Barcelona is a step up that Rashford hasn’t earned.”
As Rashford waits for clarity on his future, Barcelona are still undecided . For now, the English forward remains at the centre of a transfer saga that continues to divide opinion.
