Paul George’s season is over.
The Philadelphia 76ers forward was ruled out for the rest of the season Monday afternoon due to both a left adductor muscle injury and a left knee injury. He received injections for both of them Monday, the team announced, and will now be out at least six weeks recovering.
George has not played since March 4. He also reportedly took painkilling injections for five straight games before the All-Star break in February. George averaged 16.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 41 games this season, his first with the 76ers.

George signed a four-year, $212 million max deal with the 76ers this past summer, though he"s struggled with injuries all year. He missed the start of the season after he went down with a hyperextension of his left knee in the preseason, and he missed games with a finger injury in January.
The news of George being shut down came just a few weeks after the team announced Joel Embiid will miss the rest of the season, too. Embiid appeared in just 19 games this season.
The 76ers, who started the season as legitimate title contenders, hold a 23-44 record entering Monday night"s game against the Houston Rockets. That has them in 12th in the Eastern Conference standings, five games out of the final playoff spot. The team hasn"t missed the playoffs since the 2016-17 campaign.
